The property is situated in a small hamlet in Chamboret,
Haute Vienne.
A bank, doctors and dentist are available locally.
Large supermarkets and hypermarkets are within a 20 minute
drive.

TRAVEL Limoges Airport is
20 minutes by car, with Poitiers Airport an hour away.
Both have car hire available. The port of Calais is
460 miles away, approximately at 6.5 hour drive.
Transport is essential for visiting this area.

SIGHTSEEING
The historic capital of the region, Limoges is 25 minutes
drive from the gite. Limoges is famous worldwide for its
porcelain and has excellent shopping and cultural
attractions, including the old city with its cathedral,
museums and botanical gardens.
The nearest large town, 15 km from
Chamboret, is
St. Junien, known for its leather goods, in particular
glove-making. The historic town of Bellac is just 12 km away.
The Second World War martyr village of
Oradour sur Glane is also a short drive away.
Good shopping facilities can be found
at Poitiers, an hour from the house, and the theme park Futuroscope is
located there.
A little further afield, about an hour
and a half away, is the Perigord/Dordogne region, known for
its chateaus and numerous other places of interest,
including prehistoric cave paintings.

ACTIVITIES - There are beaches
at Lake St. Pardoux, 20 minutes drive away, with a water
chute, boating and a children's play area. Slightly
further afield is Lake Vassaviere, boasting 6 sandy beaches
and watersports (with lifeguard patrol in July and August).
Golf - The area has golf courses
to suit everyone, from novice to the experienced golfer. The
property is just 15 minutes drive from a brand new golf course
at Mortmart (open from Sept 07). Other golf courses include
Golf de St Junien, Golf de Porcelaine and Golf de Limoges
which are all less than a 40 minute drive.
In addition, there are 6 other golf courses in the Limousin
region, all reachable within a one and a half hour drive or
so. Golf
clubs, trolley and buggy hire available from all courses.
Cycling (with bicycle hire available
locally), go-karting, horse riding and fishing are all
available within a 25 minute drive.
Signposted walking trails ranging from 3km to full-day
routes through the countryside are popular with walkers and
ramblers.
